    With the continuous development of the big data era, the information technology industry is facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. Traditional information technology courses are gradually unable to meet industry demands. Therefore, this article analyzes the path of information technology course reform in the era of big data to adapt to industry development and social needs. Firstly, the innovation and application of big data in the information technology industry were introduced, followed by an explanation of the shortcomings of traditional courses and the urgency to adapt to the needs of the big data era. Finally, a path analysis for the reform of information technology courses was proposed, including updating and expanding teaching content, innovating teaching methods, strengthening practical education, and deepening industry cooperation. By analyzing these aspects, it can provide certain reference for the reform of information technology courses in undergraduate colleges.
