    With the rapid development of big data technology, the education sector is undergoing unprecedented changes. Calculus, as an important component of mathematics education, has undergone significant changes in its teaching methods and content in the context of big data. This article aims to explore the impact of big data on calculus courses, analyze the current status and challenges of ideological and political education in calculus courses, and reveal the opportunities for ideological and political education in calculus courses under the background of big data. On this basis, a series of ideological and political education strategies for calculus courses adapted to the era of big data have been proposed. By implementing these strategies, ideological and political education in calculus courses can better adapt to the requirements of the big data era, improve teaching quality, cultivate students' comprehensive qualities and values, and provide reference for improving the teaching quality of calculus courses and the effectiveness of ideological and political education.
