  • Abstract:

In the context of accelerating educational internationalization and digital transformation, innovating Chinese dance curricula through Sino-US integration presents both significant opportunities and complex challenges. This study investigates the distinct patterns of curriculum integration that emerge from such cross-cultural collaborations and examines how key contextual factors contribute to their formation and sustainability. Adopting a qualitative multi-case study design, the research collected data through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis across three Chinese higher education institutions with established Sino-US dance curriculum initiatives. The analysis, guided by Acculturation Theory, reveals two primary models of integration: an Analytic-Synthetic Model, which uses US pedagogical frameworks as analytical tools to deconstruct Chinese dance forms, and a Complementary-Segregation Model, which maintains parallel, distinct tracks for each tradition. The findings further demonstrate that the realization and endurance of these models are critically shaped by the mediating role of leadership as cultural interpreters and by technological infrastructure, which acts either as a bridge for collaborative fusion or a constraint reinforcing separation. The study concludes that curriculum integration is a strategic process of acculturation, where contextual factors actively channel collaborative efforts toward specific outcomes. These insights validate and refine the application of Acculturation Theory in educational design and offer practical guidance for institutions navigating the complexities of deep, sustainable pedagogical fusion across cultural boundaries.
