  • Abstract:

Existing methods for real-time detection of abnormal fuel consumption on ships rely solely on data from a single fuel sensor in the engine room. Since these methods fail to account for the coupled constraints between various operating parameters and fuel consumption, their detection accuracy is poor. To address this, we propose a real-time detection algorithm for abnormal fuel consumption based on the fusion of multi-source ship data. The correlation strength between the two types of data sources is calculated group by group, and the results of all data correlations are integrated to solve for the global joint correlation coefficient, thereby quantifying the degree of coupling among different vessel operational data.Multidimensional voyage operating condition parameters are fused and converted into a dynamic reference fuel consumption rate that aligns with the real-time environment. Combining this with the vessel’s inherent equipment wear parameters and a baseline fuel consumption value, the dynamic reference fuel consumption rate is derived through an operating condition–fuel consumption mapping model.Using the dynamic reference fuel consumption as a benchmark, the magnitude of fuel consumption deviation is calculated. By integrating correlation coefficients from multiple data sources, a graded anomaly determination index is constructed. Based on preset intervals, normal, mild, and severe anomaly states are distinguished in real time, enabling dynamic identification of vessel fuel consumption anomalies and graded early warning. In the experiment, the detection accuracy of the proposed method was verified. The test comparison results clearly show that when using the proposed method for real-time detection of abnormal fuel consumption, the identification accuracy for abnormal samples remains consistently stable within the range of 0.79 to 0.95, demonstrating relatively ideal detection performance.
