  • Abstract:

Most fish positioning and decapitation control methods rely solely on machine vision image recognition to perform tasks. However, because fixed-angle cutting cannot adapt to changes in fish posture, control accuracy is limited. To address this, we propose a fish positioning and decapitation control strategy based on machine vision and infrared sensing. By calculating the global pixel mean, we determine the center coordinates of the fish’s head and torso, respectively.Based on the spatial offset difference between the key points of the head and torso, the real-time deviation angle of the fish relative to the conveyor line is quantitatively determined, enabling precise capture of the fish’s random orientation and addressing the shortcoming of traditional fixed-angle cutting, which cannot adapt to changes in posture.Infrared sensors are employed to capture the actual physical boundary dimensions of the fish, establishing a scale conversion relationship between visual pixels and the physical scene. This corrects environmental interference biases in single-vision detection. By dynamically adjusting the cutting reference points and cutter head control parameters based on the fish’s orientation angle, the method achieves adaptive and precise decapitation. In the experiment, the control accuracy of the proposed method was verified. The test comparison results clearly show that when the proposed method is used for fish positioning and head-removal control, the smoothness of the cut surface is maintained within the range of 0.81 to 0.94, demonstrating relatively ideal control performance.
